First-round draft pick Walter Nolen III inked his rookie contract, a four-year deal with a team option for the 2029 season, a couple of hours before the Cardinals had their first mandatory minicamp practice.
It leaves only second-round pick Will Johnson unsigned. That isn't unusual, with a majority of second-round picks still left to do their deals as negotiations over guaranteed money in the round have become a sticking point.
But Johnson has been at voluntary work and will be at minicamp, as will Nolen – who was taken to pair with 2024 first-rounder Darius Robinson to anchor the Cardinals' interior defensive line for the near future.
Ahhh, to be young and rich.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
Indeed. I remember when I got my first paycheck. It was $100. I was so excited that I went out with my new found wealth and blew it all on a new pair of Nikes.Ahhh, to be young and rich.![]()
Cheers to hope!Pumped that he’s signed. Pumped that the defense will be much improved. Pumped the Cards will be better at pass rushing and run stopping.
butAt least the Cardinals are not dealing with crap like this:
So he's a Big Walt instead of a Big Johnxc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
It's common for 2nd rounders to be the last to sign.due to the way the rookie scale is set up the first pick in round 2 waits until the last pick in round 1 signs so they can scale the contract. But salaries drop quickly, so no agent wants to get his guy signed right away for fear of leaving money on the table.but
Johnson has now made appearances at voluntary OTA's and minicamp despite being the Cardinals' lone rookie to have not signed their contract.

At least that's what it said in the article I read a couple years back
