This is what I want too….field Yates has us taking Reese today….scared to death of him…..then we trade up to 26 for Simpson…yayI've seen enough. We aren't taking Love so let's see what makes us instantly better given our roster. We can shore up the defense with later picks, but OT is gonna go quick this year. Francis is a road grader and great at pass pro. Bookend tackles will benefit us for a decade. Protect whatever louse is behind center and open holes.
I'm sold, but please trade down a few and try to get Ty Simpson too.

Anywhere the Cardinals aren't picking Mauigoa in mocks, I see him slip out of the top ten.In absolute terms, yes, but in this draft he likely is. There is a reason you see draft experts routinely mocking Mauigoa in the top five, because in this draft he is a top five player.
I don't like it either to be honest, but this draft class is subpar overall.
Unless something happens between now and draft day, we have to take a RT with the first or second round pick. This is what I want too….field Yates has us taking Reese today….scared to death of him…..then we trade up to 26 for Simpson…yay
Team needs that's all it is.Anywhere the Cardinals aren't picking Mauigoa in mocks, I see him slip out of the top ten.
That makes me sweat, not that I think mock drafters are the end-all, be-all.
This is how I see it. I see a good player, and first and foremost, I want the Cardinals to take a good player.I like David Bailey...a lot.
That said, Mauigoa is going to be a good player. He has started 42 games in his college career at RT. Did not miss a start. Will be 20 years old when drafted. Has similar size to Penei Sewell and Tristan Wirfs who have both been successful NFL tackles. Is a 1st team All American as a Jr. Is comparable athletically to Sewell. His film is good. Very solid in the run game. Like most college OTs he needs to continue to refine his pass blocking but the fundamentals are there. The only knock on him is that, similar to Wirfs, people see a wider body who played RT and think OG which is kinda naive. I don't know what else people are really looking for other than him starting at LT vs RT his college career and he is not 6'7 with 35 inch arms.
Agreed. I see him as a good, high floor prospect but not top tier. Has similar size to Sewell but not the elite athleticism. But that doesnt mean he is a "bad" athlete. He is a good athlete given his size. This is how I see it. I see a good player, and first and foremost, I want the Cardinals to take a good player.
It is very difficult to guarantee anything when it comes to the draft."Maui could end up being the cardinals anchor RT for a dozen years." Could is not good enough for the #3 overall pick. At #3 he needs to be a consensus "would".
"but I felt similar with PJJ in 2023 and that turned out ok." PJJ was #9 not #3 and you say it turned out okay? okay is not good enough for #3
So at #3---I say NO NO NO. some of you guys are saying that you are okay to draft a guy that "could" be or will be "okay"? Really, the only 2 players that are consensual Big John sure things (as much as anyone is a sure thing) is Downs and Love. I prefer to have a "sure thing" as opposed to a "could/okay" player and another later pick that MO will definitely get wrong.
His athletic numbers are similar to Sewell. I don't know what is more top tier other than 6'7 with 35 inch arms and playing LT but the Cardinals aren't looking for a LT so I feel, for them, it matters less.Agreed. I see him as a good, high floor prospect but not top tier. Has similar size to Sewell but not the elite athleticism. But that doesnt mean he is a "bad" athlete. He is a good athlete given his size.
We need a lot. We need more pass rushers, we need a running back (arguably), we need a QB. The lack of elite players on this team is a problem, and has continued to be a problem for a while. This feels very much like Levi Brown all over again... locked ourselves into a team need, so now we're fighting against ourselves to draft a guy who feels like his ceiling is "made a Pro Bowl because someone else couldn't make it."Team needs that's all it is.
BOOOOOOOOOO!!!I've seen enough. We aren't taking Love so let's see what makes us instantly better given our roster. We can shore up the defense with later picks, but OT is gonna go quick this year. I feel like we will have spent a #3 and #6 pick on bookend tackles to only get pretty good play. You should have dominant play drafting guys at those slots. You’re oline should be close to dominant as you need to fill three slots with lower grade positional players and can have one that is actually subpar. I doubt an oline with PJJ and any tackle from this draft will ever be dominant because the most expensive pieces are just pretty good and not great.I disagree with this. I think he is vey close to Penei Sewell. Starting three years at Miami without a redshirt year is very impressive. He can hold up physically at the NFL level. I think his athleticism is good for an outside zone scheme. He is young and polished which is rare.
Again, I prefer a different player, and don't necessarily love the idea of taking a RT at 3, but I felt similar with PJJ in 2023 and that turned out ok. Ultimately, I don't feel that Mauigoa is a "reach" at 3, just like I don't feel Love is a "reach" at 3. They are both talented enough. It's more of if you want to use that level of resource to add a RT or RB.
“Have to” = bad GMUnless something happens between now and draft day, we have to take a RT with the first or second round pick.
All those bad teams don’t need a tackle? Seems odd.Team needs that's all it is.
I guess I don’t talk up guys as dominant. I view Mauigoa, Bailey and Love very similarly. I think they all do the primary thing I want them to do,I feel like we will have spent a #3 and #6 pick on bookend tackles to only get pretty good play. You should have dominant play drafting guys at those slots. You’re oline should be close to dominant as you need to fill three slots with lower grade positional players and can have one that is actually subpar. What teams do you want to take a OT. Raiders - no. Jets just took one each of the past two drafts. Titans have Dan Moore at 26 mil this year and a former 1st round pick at RT. Giants have Andrew Thomas and resigned their RT from last year. Cleveland probably takes him at 6. Chiefs would at 9. Saints have two 1st round picks at OT. Washington has Tunsil and they drafted Conerly in round 1 last year.We need a lot. We need more pass rushers, we need a running back (arguably), we need a QB. The lack of elite players on this team is a problem, and has continued to be a problem for a while. This feels very much like Levi Brown all over again... locked ourselves into a team need, so now we're fighting against ourselves to draft a guy who feels like his ceiling is "made a Pro Bowl because someone else couldn't make it."
Why are no other teams salivating over taking Mauigoa? Why isn't there a single team locked in with him in the top ten, or a single rumor?
If we can’t trade down for 2027 capital for our QBOF and we’re stuck at 3, I’m good with Bailey or love. Anything else blows. If mauagoia is the goal trade down and get something to take a subpar (for the a slot we earned being awful) player.I mean I like the guy but I'm still in the I want Love because I want someone who's going to make plays.
But I'm pretty resigned to the idea we take Mauigoa or Bailey. Of the 2 I'd take Bailey and I'm a big believer in building the lines but I don't think Mauigoa is as good as Bailey.
The draft is weak is the problem, so at 3 get one of the really good players
All those teams with two good tackles . . . suck? I think you just made the argument why investing in a right tackle makes as much impact as taking a running back or safety. What teams do you want to take a OT. Raiders - no. Chop forgot to mention the Chagers. That was a layup smhAll those teams with two good tackles . . . suck? I think you just made the argument why investing in a right tackle makes as much impact as taking a running back or safety.
Two good tackles that barely played.Chop forgot to mention the Chagers. That was a layup smh
I mean, I want Love. But I also know we won't take him. So...just trying to get right with Bidwillesus.BOOOOOOOOOO!!!
agree...lets worry about champagne problems once we have champaign...we got miller lite problems right now.I am of the mind that I will worry about money once the Cardinals actually find a QB worth paying. Until then, add talent.
