Heading into the second year of the Caitlin Clark experience, the Indiana Fever made it abundantly clear that they are going all in on a title push.

They brought in a new head coach in Stephanie White, while acquiring three veterans via free agency in two-time WNBA Champion DeWanna Bonner, sharpshooter Sophie Cunningham and former Defensive Player of the Year Natasha Howard, who actually started her career with the team in 2014.

The more talent around Clark, who was already able to drag the Fever to its first playoff appearance since 2016, should only elevate her play. This sentiment is one that oddsmakers may also agree with, as Clark is currently the favorite to win MVP, according to FanDuel, after finishing fourth in last year's race.

However, she will have some competition on her own team, as Howard told the media on Wednesday that she wants to win both MVP and DPOY.

Natasha Howard on her expectations this year:

"I actually want to win MVP ... and getting Defensive Player of the Year ... but at the end [of the season], holding a trophy up."

While Howard is coming off a season with the Dallas Wings that saw her average 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, FanDuel currently does not have odds available for her to win the MVP.

In addition to the lack of odds available, she likely won't have the volume of shots on this Fever squad, considering Clark is the offense's focal point.

The Fever won't have long to integrate their splashy new free agents with their established trio of Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston. Preseason starts this weekend, and the regular season follows a couple of weeks later. However, based on Howard's comments, any minutes together could be vital in developing the chain of command on offense and the unit's chemistry.

Indiana opens up preseason action on Saturday against the Washington Mystics , one day before they take on the Brazilian national team. The Fever's first regular-season game is set for Saturday, May 17 against Angel Reese's Chicago Sky.
