Fernando Alonso is a master of Formula 1 politics. Whenever a television camera is in his face, the two-time World Champion knows exactly what to say to protect the team’s brand. But after a disastrous start to the 2026 season—defined by violent Honda engine vibrations and zero chance of a World Championship—the Spanish veteran’s legendary patience has officially snapped.

According to new updates from Motorsport-Magazine‘s Christian Menath, the situation inside the Aston Martin garage is rapidly deteriorating. The facade is starting to crack, and Alonso’s long-term future with the British marque is suddenly in serious jeopardy.

Aston Martin Garage is “Boiling Over”

It is incredibly easy to see why Alonso is furious. He committed his final years in F1 to the 2026 Aston Martin project, fully believing that Adrian Newey’s chassis design and the new Honda factory engine partnership would give him a legitimate shot at a third World Championship. Instead, the AMR26 has been a physical nightmare, vibrating so violently that Alonso lost feeling in his hands and was forced into an early retirement at the Chinese Grand Prix.

While Alonso has largely kept his frustrations out of the press conferences, the reality behind closed doors is much darker. Menath revealed the stark contrast between Alonso’s media persona and his actual mindset.

“Publicly, Fernando Alonso appears relatively calm,” Menath reported. “But we’ve been able to learn behind the scenes that things are really boiling over”.

With Honda recently admitting that their upcoming summer upgrades won’t even drastically fix the car’s underlying issues, Alonso is staring down the barrel of another wasted season fighting at the back of the midfield.

Ripping Up the Retirement Plan

The most shocking part of Menath’s report isn’t just the anger; it’s what this frustration means for Alonso’s future. When he signed his latest contract extension with Aston Martin, it was heavily publicized as a lifetime deal that would keep him tied to Lawrence Stroll’s brand well after he hung up his racing helmet.

That massive, multi-year commitment is now allegedly on the verge of collapsing.

“He thought Aston Martin would be his last team,” Menath explained. “He even signed on for beyond F1, but now it might not be that way”.

If Alonso decides to walk away and rip up his post-F1 ambassador contract, it would be a catastrophic PR blow for Aston Martin. With Carlos Sainz openly admitting he is losing patience with Williams for failing to deliver a fast car, the 2026 driver market is already incredibly volatile.

Alonso has spent the better half of the 2026 season waiting for a better chassis, but the realization that Aston Martin cannot deliver that car in 2026 might just be the ultimate breaking point.
