Fermin Lopez revealed how Hansi Flick helped Barcelona overcome Newcastle in the Champions League with some advice at half-time.

Barcelona went in at the break 3-2 up, thanks to a late penalty from Lamine Yamal, and Fermin says Flick had a specific request for him a the start of the second half.

“Flick asked me to help with the build-up play because they were marking man-to-man,” he said.
“If we could overcome that line of pressure, we could attack the space, which is what I tried to do. It worked out well and we were able to play a great game.

“The first half was a bit more difficult for us. They put us under a lot of pressure, we lost possession but we also had chances, but in the second half we controlled the game more.”

Fermin played a key role straight after half-time as Barca carved open Newcastle and made it 4-2 through Lopez. The goals then continued to flow, with Lopez saying the big win is great for confidence.

“We’re leaving with a very good feeling. We scored seven goals. It’s a shame we conceded two. We played well, but there are things to correct. This should help us gain more confidence for the next rounds,” he added.

Barcelona now switch focus back to La Liga and a clash with Rayo on Sunday at Camp Nou.
