The Kansas City Chiefs enter 2026 with more WR questions than ever during the Patrick Mahomes era, thanks in part to a double dose of bad news concerning Rashee Rice: violating his probation and undergoing a clean-up procedure on his injured knee. What impact might this have on his fantasy value?

As of Tuesday night, Rice’s half-point PPR ADP WR7 and 21 overall. In other words, he’s widely viewed as a late second-round or early third-round fantasy draft pick. Worthy is all the way down at WR52. Tyquan Thornton (WR98) is the only other Kansas City wideout inside the top 130. Meanwhile, the fading Kelce is at TE10.

The challenge for managers is deciding whether to roll the dice on Rice in what looks like a relatively top-heavy receiving corps, or decide that he’s too risky to draft that early. I see only one clear path: fade him.

In addition to missing 22 games over the past two seasons, Rice is already priced at his realistic ceiling. Last year, he was the WR5 in fantasy points per contest. He was the WR15 the year before in limited action. As a 2023 rookie, he was the WR29. So while he’s clearly ascending as a player (not surprisingly, in tandem with Kelce’s recent decline), there’s too much elite NFL talent at wide receiver to expect Rice to dominate.

Keep a close eye on his ADP this next week. I believe it will drop to around WR11-13, and to 28-32 overall. If more concerning news comes out -- such as legitimate suspension talk -- he could plummet to around WR18-20 and 40-45 overall.
