Jalen Brunson’s appearance at the 2026 ESPY Awards provided an update on his wrist injury after undergoing offseason surgery.
Brunson led the New York Knicks to the 2026 NBA championship with a wrist injury, having surgery on it after their title run was complete.
Brunson appeared at the 2026 ESPY Awards as the Knicks and their players won four awards out of four nominations, but for fans, this served as the first unofficial update on his wrist injury.

Brunson was spotted on the red carpet with his wife, Dr. Ali Marks, wearing a black suit with his arm no longer in a sling.
The same fans who didn’t know Brunson was injured during the Finals are now getting excited about his recovery based on unconfirmed visual cues.
It isn’t surprising that he’s already out of a sling for a wrist surgery, so no one can know his current status for certain.
With three months still left in the offseason, Brunson has plenty of time to heal up before the start of training camp in late September.

Brunson was nominated for Best Athlete – Male and Best NBA Player, winning both awards on the night to further immortalize his incredible season with the Knicks.

The franchise saw two other nominations, winning those two as well, with OG Anunoby receiving Play of the Year for his Game 4 tip-in, and the Knicks won Best Team.
It was an incredible year for the franchise and its players, but next season will prove to be a different challenge after contenders around the East have made major win-now moves.
With LeBron James potentially returning to the East as well, it’ll be fascinating to see how the Knicks and Brunson hold onto their crown.
