According to a report from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Atlanta Falcons are expected to interview former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce for their coaching vacancy next week. A former linebacker, Pierce spent a decade in the NFL (2001-2009) before starting his coaching career.
After spending four years as a high school football coach, Pierce took a job at Arizona State as a linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator. He eventually worked his way up to defensive coordinator and assistant head coach before joining the Raiders staff in 2022.
Pierce took over as interim head coach when the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels midway through the 2023 season, leading the team to a 5-4 record. Las Vegas then hired Pierce as its full-time head coach in 2024 but fired him after a 4-13 season.
According to Garafolo, Pierce will come to Atlanta for an in-person interview with Matt Ryan and the Falcons front office this week.
The Falcons have completed six interviews for their head coaching vacancy thus far, including former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, former Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski and former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh (over the phone). Check out the full list below.
