Falcons could give Stefon Diggs what he's looking for originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
At this point, Stefon Diggs is simply looking for a team.
No, the veteran is probably not in a rush. But after going to the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots, he was cut, and he remains a free agent as the calendar rolls toward the second week of June.
There are plenty of teams that could probably use Diggs, and one of them is the Atlanta Falcons.
CBS Sports writer Garrett Podell named the Falcons as the "ideal landing spot" for Diggs in a recent article, and there's definitely a case to be made.
Diggs would get solid targets as the probable WR2 opposite Drake London.
The Falcons would get a player who had 85 catches a season ago.
"New Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski was an assistant coach with the Minnesota Vikings during Diggs' entire career there, including working as the team's offensive coordinator in both of their final seasons in Minnesota in 2019," Podell writes. "Diggs could acclimate quickly to Atlanta's playbook, and he could also emerge as a key target in an NFC South division that's up for grabs every season."

Diggs would give the Falcons more reasons to believe in an offense that already has London, Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson as big-time playmakers. In that group, Diggs could almost become a bit of a security blanket as more of a possession-type receiver at this point in his career.
He's past his prime, but Diggs proved with Drake Maye throwing him the football that he could still make plays.
The biggest question for Atlanta would remain who actually starts at QB in Week 1, whether it's Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa.
But whether it's one lefty or the other, Diggs could make an impact.
