Xander Zayas is set to defend both his WBA and WBO Junior Middleweight titles against current interim WBA champion, Jaron “Boots” Ennis, this Saturday (June 27, 2026) inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York (full details here).
Zayas is coming in with a perfect record (23-0) with 12 knockouts on his resume, winning the WBO title by defeating Jorge Garcia Perez in mid-2025. He then went on to win the WBA’s strap six months later by defeating Abass Baraou. The 23 year-old phenom is knocking on the door of superstardom, and a win over Boots will kick it wide open.
As for Ennis, he is coming in with a 35-0-1 record with 31 knockouts and is the more experienced boxer between the two. One of the knocks on “Boots” is that he is lacking big name wins on his resume, as has quests to lock down fights against Tank Davis and Devin Haney has proven to be tougher than expected. If he can hand Zayas his first-ever defeat, than perhaps revisiting those talks will be a huge possibility.
The two men took part in their final press conference earlier today (Thurs. June 25), and stared each other down ahead of their big showdown, which you can see in the video player embedded above.
