INDIANAPOLIS -- Former Purdue star Zach Edey will undergo a second left ankle surgery and be out indefinitely, the Grizzlies announced Sunday afternoon prior to their game against the Pacers.

Edey -- a two-time consensus first-team All-American and national Player of the Year at Purdue --has appeared in just 11 games for the Grizzlies this season, averaging 13.6 points on 63.6% shooting and 11.1 rebounds per game. The 11 games came between Nov. 15 and Dec. 7, and he has not played since. He had already been ruled out for Sunday's game.

According to the Grizzlies' press release, Edey will have surgery "to resolve ongoing discomfort and talar bone stress" in the left ankle. Edey previously had surgery on the same ankle in June "to address laxity in and re-stabilize the lateral ankle joint." The Grizzlies said the ongoing discomfort comes from laxity in the medial ligaments.

Edey is expected to make a full recovery according to the release and a timeline for his return to play will be announced after the surgery.
