Fromer Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard didn't go as early in the 2025 NFL Draft as some analysts predicted. But according to Howard, he couldn't have landed in a better place.
Howard has gushed about his opportunity to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers since the team selected him in the sixth round. Ahead of the team's rookie minicamp on Wednesday, Howard again stressed how much he is looking forward to joining the Steelers.
"After my experiences with Coach (Mike) Tomlin and everybody from the Steelers at the NFL Combine, I had a formal interview with them there," Howard said, via Steelers.com's Teresa Varley. "And then Coach and (offensive coordinator) Arthur (Smith) and (General Manager) Omar (Khan) all had dinner with us for our Pro Day.
"After those two interactions, you never know what's going to happen in this process, but I wanted to be a Steeler. Coach Tomlin, I want to play for him."

Howard is getting his first opportunity to practice for Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin this weekend. The team opened rookie minicamp Friday.
Tomlin addressed Howard's early progress at camp in front of reporters Saturday.
"He’s doing great,” Tomlin told reporters. “We’re at the very beginning of it. I don’t know that we’re looking at it through that lens in terms of evaluating him.
“It’s more about getting to know him and just laying a good foundation that way.”
A West Chester, Pa., native, Howard's local team growing up was the Philadelphia Eagles. But Howard shared he's always admired the Steelers organization and hyped the team as a fantastic fit for him.
"I ended up in the perfect spot for me. It's a match made in heaven. I was so fired up when I got that call, and I heard Omar's voice. I was like, man this just could not be better," said Howard.
