Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been the story of the NFL offseason as his public standoff with the San Francisco 49ers has reached a climax. Aiyuk has resorted to releasing several videos on Instagram, calling out various 49ers executives and angling for a move to the Washington Commanders.
This week, the polarizing wide receiver turned his ire toward his former Arizona State Sun Devils teammate and current Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Will Compton Questions Brandon Aiyuk’s Feud With Jayden Daniels
In a lengthy post on X, former NFL linebacker Will Compton presented two scenarios regarding Aiyuk’s fallout with Daniels.
“My thought is him & Jayden Daniel’s were college teammates They could be weirdly trolling everyone If not, BA is insane and won’t last much longer bc he’s handled this situation as badly as it can be handled (Forgive me if it’s already been figured out. I haven’t followed too much since I’m on vacation),” Compton wrote.
Aiyuk took exception to Daniels laughing at a hysterical fan warning him not to play with the 49ers wide receiver during a World Cup game last week. He posted a response to the quarterback on his Instagram stories:
“Tf always so funny lil (expletive). Turn your savage up,” Aiyuk wrote.

Aiyuk’s response was followed by an expletive-laden clip where he claimed that Daniel had reached out to him about toeing the line.
“You on my team now, you follow my rules.” Aiyuk responded, “I’m a grown [expletive] man, boy. You gonna have to start running behind yo mama and I might believe what you talking about. But until then, mm-mm.”
The public fallout between the former teammates seems to have cooled any hopes that Aiyuk had of joining the Commanders and further put his future in the league in serious jeopardy as he continues to burn bridges.

In 2023 season, Aiyuk established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the league, earning the fifth-highest PFSN WR Impact score after tallying 1,342 receiving yards on 75 receptions, resulting in seven touchdowns.
Thereafter, Aiyuk was awarded a lucrative four-year, $120 million contract before tearing his MCL and ACL, forcing him to miss the rest of the season. The 49ers star’s guaranteed money for the 2026 season was voided after he reportedly failed to attend mandatory rehab check-ins with the team’s medical staff, leading to the current standoff.
Despite his off-field antics, Aiyuk has had a productive league career, registering 4,305 receiving yards on 294 receptions, resulting in 25 touchdowns since being selected No. 25 overall during the 2020 NFL Draft.
