The Kansas City Chiefs’ revamp of the running backs room ahead of the 2026 season will officially be without last season’s end-of-year signing.

On Thursday, the Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the free-agent signing of running back Dameon Pierce, who spent a few games last season in Kansas City.

Shortly after signing Pierce to the practice squad mid-season, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid praised his poise and professionalism.

“I like the kid (Dameon Pierce),” said Reid during a press conference last season. “I can tell he’s sharp and into it. We don’t have any injuries going on so the guys that know the stuff are playing right now. But I sure like the way he goes about his business. You see why he’s a good player.”

During the 2025 season, Pierce appeared in five games, four with the Texans and one with the Chiefs. He was initially added to the practice squad ahead of the Week 13 game against the Dallas Cowboys. The 25-year-old had 10 rushes for 26 yards over the four games with Houston.
