Former Arizona State standout receiver Brandon Aiyuk has, once again, left all the people following the disgruntled receiver's San Francisco saga with more questions than answers.
Thursday morning, the seven-year pro posted another bizarre social media post on Instagram, showing himself in an empty closet with a backpack full of money.
Aiyuk began dumping the money out on the floor by the handful. As he finished dumping out the money, he slipped the backpack on, and the 43-second video came to an end.
This follows a peculiar social media pattern, in which Aiyuk has been outspoken about his desire to play for the Washington Commanders.
Monday, he posted a brief video of himself wishing fathers a happy belated Father's Day before he barked, "Go Commanders," into his phone as the video ended.
Wednesday, Aiyuk posted a slightly cryptic post with him holding a football with the Washington Commanders logo on it.
Aiyuk captioned the post with: "The best sport in the world, the best league in the world, the best team in the world."
Around the same time, Aiyuk posted a video where he said he "would sign with the Commanders tomorrow," if he were to be released by the 49ers.
His teammate, 49ers tight end George Kittle recently told Barstool Sports' "Pardon My Take" podcast host Eric Sollenberg, a Washington Commanders fan, that he hoped it all worked out.
"I used to make it a habit of mine to go out early in the morning before meetings to watch him train because he’d always be out there early, and I watched him run over 22 miles an hour and watched him stop on a dime," Kittle said. "He’s still got it, but that was eight months ago, so I don’t really know. You guys have fun with that, I guess."
Aiyuk is in the second year of a four-year, $120 million contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers.
Aiyuk has no guaranteed money left on his contract, but the Niners would have to eat a $35 million dead-money charge over the 2026 and 2027 seasons, according to GM John Lynch.
