In a hard-fought Week 17 AFC South showdown in Indianapolis, the Jacksonville Jaguars climbed out of an early hole to defeat the Colts 23–17, showcasing resilience on both sides of the ball and tightening their grip on the division race.
Here's how everything went down.
The Colts drew first blood in the opening quarter as Blake Grupe connected on a 33-yard field goal to cap an 8-play, 29-yard drive, putting Indianapolis up 3–0. Indianapolis extended that lead in the second quarter with a 15-play, 83-yard drive, highlighted by a 3-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Taylor, giving the Colts a 10–0 advantage and forcing Jacksonville into a comeback mode.
The Jaguars responded before halftime, methodically driving 12 plays for 69 yards and cutting into the deficit when Trevor Lawrence powered in a 4-yard touchdown run, bringing the score to 10–7 at intermission. Jacksonville carried momentum into the second half and seized the lead on a 6-yard Lawrence touchdown run, putting together another sustained drive that flipped the game’s momentum.
Late in the third quarter, Indianapolis answered back with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to Mo Alie-Cox to make it 17–14, but the Jaguars’ defense tightened thereafter.
In the fourth quarter, Jacksonville put together a decisive drive culminating in a field goal that extended the lead with 18 seconds remaining, and a late defensive stand preserved the win.
The Jaguars’ balanced offense and bend-but-don’t-break defensive performance not only earned them the road victory but kept them atop the AFC South picture.
