The Chicago Bears are gearing up for the 2026 NFL Draft, where they're slated to have seven picks, including four in the Top 89.
After picking 25th overall in the first round, the Bears have a pair of second rounders, after trading wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills. It starts with the 57th overall pick, which puts them in a position to land an impact contributor at one of their key areas of need.
When looking at the history of the No. 57 pick, there have been a few standouts, but it's mostly been players who've phased out. Can Chicago go against history and find an impactful player at 57? We'll have to wait and see.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have benefitted greatly from the addition of right tackle Luke Goedeke, who's served as a key piece along their offensive line. Goedeke recently earned a four-year, $90 million contract extension, which keeps him with the Buccaneers through the 2029 season. So while a good number of these selections haven't worked out, you can find an impact starter at 57, and perhaps even reward him with a contract extension.
There are some duds on this list, but considering wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside isn't in the NFL anymore gives him the edge. Arcega-Whiteside spent three years with the Eagles before bouncing around between Seattle Seahawks (2022) and Atlanta Falcons (2023) during training camp before being cut. Arcega-Whiteside tried his luck in the CFL, signing with the Toronto Argonauts.
The Bears have a slew of positions to address in the draft, so depending on what they do in Round 1, there will be options across the board. At safety, players like Arizona's Treydan Stukes, LSU's AJ Haulcy and USC's Kamari Ramsey could be available. At edge rusher, UCF's Malachi Lawrence, Penn State's Dani Dennis-Sutton and Illinois' Gabe Jacas are potential options. At offensive line, Kansas State center Sam Hecht, Aburn center Connor Lew and Northwestern tackle Caleb Tiernan could be options. Finally, at defensive tackle, Oklahoma's Gracen Halton could be in play.
