Freeport girls basketball standout Athiei Dhal capped a historic freshman season with national recognition.

ESPN SportsCenter NEXT’s Terrific 25 rankings placed Dhal at No. 21 in the Class of 2029. She is ranked as the nation’s third-best post player and the second-best player in Florida, trailing only Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy guard Leila Bryant.
Dhal received a four-star rating and a scout grade of 92 from ESPN.
In 27 games, Dhal averaged 27.4 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks per game while shooting 69% from the field. She finished the season ranked eighth in Florida in scoring, 12th in rebounding and third in blocks.
Dhal has already received scholarship offers from Ohio State and Southern Methodist University.
