Oregon football got somewhat of a reprieve when it comes to the conference schedule in Year 2 of being a Big Ten member. There's no Ohio State or Michigan and the Ducks get to host USC at Autzen Stadium late in the season.
But the Ducks have one road game that will say a lot towards how 2025 might shape up for the team and that's a Sept. 27 date at Penn State. In a rematch of the Big Ten title game from a year ago, ESPN has tabbed this contest as one of the 10 best games on the college football slate.
"On the same day as Bama-Georgia, two Big Ten teams with massive expectations face their first huge tests of the season," ESPN says. "Penn State has had just about the best offseason a team can have and will probably be a slight favorite in a rematch of last year's Big Ten championship."
Oregon will have plenty to say about whether the Nittany Lions should be the favorite for this game. Yes, the game is in Beaver Stadium with over 100,000 fans, and if the television suits are smart, this will be a game in prime time. But the Ducks aren't strangers to the big stage, and they come in as the defending conference champs. No matter who is favored, this promises to be one of the must-see games of the season.
