The 2026 NCAA Tournament field is locked in and one ESPN March Madness analyst believes a major upset could be brewing in the first round.
The magic of March Madness allows presents big opportunities for upsets in the college basketball world. However, ESPN’s Seth Greenburg already has one top program on upset alert before the tournament even tips off with Tuesday’s First Four matchups.

The former Virginia Tech head coach joined The Pat McAfee Show Tuesday to discuss his shocking take ahead of the NCAA Tournament. The ESPN March Madness analyst believes that AJ Dybantsa and the BYU Cougars have to be wary heading into the 68-team competition.
BYU awaits the winner of either North Carolina State or Texas in the opening round of March Madness. The Cougars have been one of the more polarizing teams in college basketball throughout the 2025-26 campaign.
Despite Dybantsa’s incredible talents and future NBA prospects, BYU has suffered many up-and-down performances leading into the NCAA Tournament.
“Here’s my flyer,” Greenberg teased when speaking to McAfee. “The winner of NC State and Texas beats BYU.”

Greenberg clearly believes that whichever team earns the 11 seed in the tournament can give the Cougars plenty of trouble. Given recent history, it’s not a crazy bet considering the success of First Four winners.

First Four winners have seen success beyond the Round of 64 in 12 of the last 14 years. Meanwhile, that trend could continue this season if BYU has another slip up.
Heading into the NCAA Tournament, the Cougars lost three straight games to end the regular season before being eliminated by Houston in the Big 12 Tournament.
