The Dallas Mavericks will take their front office in a new direction, reportedly firing general manager Nico Harrison.
Dallas will have a new executive running basketball operations less than one year after they shockingly traded away franchise cornerstone Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. Many fans in Dallas remained frustrated and were vocally upset about the bold decision.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported Tuesday morning at 10:10 a.m. that Harrison's exit from the Mavericks was "imminent" and could happen as soon as later in the day. Stein is a veteran reporter well-connected with Dallas.
However, after Stein's report, ESPN's Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon escalated the urgency one step further.
Charania reported at 10:21 a.m. that Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont would meet with Harrison at 11:00 a.m. to tell him about the decision.
Stein added that the Mavericks are expected to have a "subsequent meeting" with the players to inform them later today.
However, after his reporting as well as ESPN's, it's clear that Harrison and those on the roster probably already had a fairly clear idea.
