they probably saw his cap # and need something to talk about. It will be funny if they mention the Vikings or the St.Paul Pioneer press. That's about what Skip Bayless's credibility is though.

AGAIN?

The "Fitzgerald is gonna be traded" story is to the nation media as Adrian Peterson topics are to ASFN.

Both are over done and worthless.

Which begs the question, when is Minnesota going write up their annual "Cardinals are talking to Minnesota about trading Larry Fitzgerald for [enter any Viking player's name here]"

I don't know. Most times, when there's this much smoke, there's at least a little fire. I don't think it'll happen because it'd take too much for another team to get him, but I wouldn't be surprised if Whiz, a self-proclaimed run-first guy, looks at his personell and says "what the heck do I need two pro-bowl WRs for when I don't have the line or the backs I want?"

Boldin won't have the same value as Fitz, so Fitz is the logical guy to collect offers for.

True dat. But do you really want to trade a guy who'll play for the next 10 years at a Pro Bowl level and keep the guy who may play the next 5 (and perhaps half of those for 16 games)?

It would take a deal for Chester Taylor and Chad Hutchinson/Bryant McKinnie to pry Larry Fitzgerald out, regardless of what his cap number is right now. That would be the only thing I'd take for him.

Save this thread for next year, when the Pioneer Press needs a story.

(damn that woman on first take has a large chin)

I don't want to trade either of them. But we need to look at what Whiz likely want to do in the offense. It was probably killing him that he was forced into a pass-first offense last season because of his personnel.

a Taylor/McKinnie trade doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. But this rumor didn't specify the Vikings I don't think. So, that expands the possibilites.

What about Atlanta's first rounder? ...maybe Whiz is looking to get to McFadden, but would take a consolation prize of either of the Longs?

I totally agree with both points. It doesn't make sense about getting Atl's first rounder, though. One: they need a quarterback (personally, I think that if they get Carroll they might trade with the Cowboys to let them get McFadden and then they'll take Booty late in the first). Two: part of the scuttlebutt about Edge is that he's making too much money and Whis remembers how the back he had with the Steelers was an underafted rookie free agent. It doesn't make sense to cut Edge if you're going to be paying a rookie back even more. Isn't that why we passed on Peterson?

Really, a deal for Fitz doesn't make sense from any angle, so it's really just fun speculation. It would take two of McKinnie/Taylor/Hutchinson/Winfield for me to give up Fitz. I think that price is a little too high, considering that I think that Linehan is going to try and use the Eagles' model of getting by with middling WRs.

Interesting, but I doubt they trade away a first round pick before they get a coach.

Minnesota seems like a likely suitor. I could see them looking at a guy like McKinnie. Hutchinson (Steve), wouldn't happen.

Jacksonville, Baltimore, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa, Tennessee, Philadelphia, and Oakland would seems to need a legit wide out. There are some division rivals that could use him, but why do that?

In fact, I'm not crazy about moving him at all, unless it's to get a number of high quality linemen or draft picks to be used on linemen.

Watching first take, I am wondering about what happened to Eric Dickerson's eyebrows? Is he sick or something?

Don't you work, Mulli? How can you be watching TV, you lucky bastard?
I am off work for a little while with the new year. Long story.

I saw the piece on Fitz. Someone called when it was on, but Dan Pompei pretty much said Fitz isn't going anywhere.

After the improvement Fitzgerald has shown this year, I don't think there is any deal that would be sweet enough to get him out of Arizona.

There were a couple of games were Fitzgerald WAS the offense for the Cardinals.

If fans want to complain about passing on Peterson because of his ability to dominate a game, then why in the world would you let a WR who can also dominate a game leave.

I agree this is all speculation, but if I was running the show for the Cardinals Fitzgerald would be untouchable.

Fitzgerald had been the subject of trade rumors, but general manager Rod Graves laughed when I asked him about that. "That's not going to happen," Graves said. "Larry is the kind of player we feel we can build a championship with." Graves said the Cardinals would make it a priority to sign Fitzgerald to an extension in the off-season.

I agree Rugby. The problem with some on here is that the have "the grass is always greener" syndrome thinking that anyone has to be better than a current Cardinals player. Our WR position ain't broke. Don't fix it.

Hard to say that any player is untouchable. Brady and Manning are untouchable in the NFL. LeBron James and maybe Kobe Bryant in the NBA are untouchable. There are maybe five players in MLB who are untouchable.

80% of wide receiver production is interchangeable, especially with how often we passed last season. I don't think you would trade Fitzgerald for one player, or one draft pick, but if you could get a Pro Bowl player and another solid starter for Larry Fitzgerald, especially at a position like OT or CB, which are far more rare than good WRs, or a Pro Bowl player and a high draft pick (top 20 or so), I think that you have to think about it.

Randy Moss--RANDY MOSS--was traded for a fourth-round pick. If you can get a Herschel Walker-type deal for Larry Fitzgerald, then you have to take advantage.

How can you call Kobe untouchable after the Lakers shopped him all offseason??? Bringing Moss into the equation doesn't make sense either since he had two poor years in Oakland and has character issues.

I normally would agree that if we were offered something astronomical then we should think about it, but not this tme. Fitz is still getting better and is the best in the game IMO. We have another 10 years with him if we want it.

Also, I just got his jersey for Christmas, so he can't go anywhere.

Isn't Fitz still only something like 22 years old. I thought he was one of the youngest in the league when he was drafted. If he stays injury-free, he has about 10-15 more very productive years. It better be beyond a blockbuster offer to even think about it.
