Since Dan Lanning took over as Oregon football's head coach ahead of the 2022 season, the Ducks have improved each season.

In just his fourth season at the helm in Eugene, Lanning guided the Ducks a win away from the College Football Playoff national championship game, and most national outlets expect Oregon to be a "championship-or-bust" program in 2026.

Count ESPN among that group, which listed the Ducks as one of the top programs heading into 2026 and beyond in their "College Football Future Power Rankings" released June 9.

The outlet ranked the Ducks fourth overall among all 68 Power 4 college football programs in their list measuring programs' futures, behind just No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Texas.

The rankings prioritize quarterback situation, offensive line/defensive line outlook, roster management, star power and coaching staff. Here's what ESPN said about the Ducks:

"Retention was Oregon's hallmark during an offseason in which its NFL draft total (seven) could have been much higher," Adam Rittenberg wrote. "Along with (Dante) Moore and the defensive linemen, Oregon retained (Iapani) Laloulu, linebacker Jerry Mixon, tight end Jamari Johnson, a talented young core of defensive backs and several talented wide receivers, while getting Evan Stewart back from injury."

ESPN cited the consistency among the coaching staff, Oregon's ability to retain talented players and the return of Dante Moore and transfer of Dylan Raiola as key reasons the Ducks will continue to be contenders past 2026.
