In a vote that ended June 5, Cincinnati.com readers selected the 2025-2026 Cincinnati Enquirer/Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athletes of the Week from high school sports action through May 31.
Winners can print their certificates from this week starting Monday and other weeks now using this Drop Box link. Send a photo of the winners with their certificates for our photo gallery.

Ohio big-school baseball team: Elder – Elder was crowned district champion after wins against Hamilton and Beavercreek.
Ohio small-school baseball team: Roger Bacon – Roger Bacon claimed a district title with an 11-0 win over Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy and a 4-1 victory against Benjamin Logan.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana baseball team: Campbell County – Campbell County won the 10th Region tournament with three straight shutouts, blanking Bracken County, George Rogers Clark and Montgomery County.
Ohio softball team: Taylor – Taylor made it to the regional finals with a 10-9 win against River Valley.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana softball team: Highlands – Highlands was crowned Ninth Region champions following wins over Conner, Notre Dame and Ryle.
Boys spring team: Mariemont lacrosse – Mariemont beat Indian Hill 15-4 on May 26 and Fenwick 17-6 to win the Region 8 championship and advance to the Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament.
Girls spring team: Mariemont lacrosse – Mariemont beat Wyoming 20-7 and Indian Hill 11-9 to claim the Region 8 championship.
Ohio big-school baseball: Caleb McComas, Elder – The junior threw a complete-game shutout in Elder’s 2-0 upset of Beavercreek in the district finals. He allowed four hits and struck out six.
Ohio small-school baseball: Caleb Goldston, La Salle – The junior had three hits, two for doubles and two RBIs in a 7-4 playoff win over Ross.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana big-school baseball: Jay Race, Scott – The junior threw 5.1 innings in Scott’s 7-1 win over Mason County in the 10th Region tournament, allowing two hits and striking out seven. Then he threw 3.2 shutout innings in relief in the Eagles’ 8-5 loss to Montgomery County in the semifinals. He was named to the all-tournament team.
Ohio boys lacrosse: Vince Fiorina, Mariemont – The senior scored 10 goals and had four assists across the regional semifinals and finals as Mariemont advanced to the state tournament.
Ohio girls lacrosse: Piper Farrell, Mariemont – The junior scored five goals to lead Mariemont past Indian Hill, 11-9, in the regional final.
Ohio softball:Morgan Raugh, Taylor – Her two-run single capped a six-run fourth inning as the Yellowjackets rallied to beat River Valley in a DIV regional semifinal.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana softball: Sophia Gerkin, Notre Dame Academy – She went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in a Ninth Region first-round win over Villa Madonna.
Boys singles tennis: Blake Hussey, Covington Catholic – Hussey finished as the Kentucky High School Athletic Asociation state runner-up, reaching the state finals on May 27.
Boys doubles tennis team: Will Tribble/Jacob Kramer, Covington Catholic – The pair of Colonels won their first two matches of the KHSAA finals tournament, finishing as state semifinalists.
Ohio boys track and field: Isaac Menke, Batavia – He won the DII 110-meter hurdles regional title in a new personal best of 14.76 seconds and took second place in the 300-meter hurdles in a new personal best of 38.73 seconds.
Ohio girls track and field: Natalie Niese, Loveland – She took third place in the shot put at the DII regional meet with a throw of 37 feet.
Ohio boys volleyball: Parker Povse, Fenwick – In the six sets of Fenwick’s boys volleyball championship weekend, the senior setter had 20 kills (with a .459 kill efficiency), 28 assists, eight digs, four blocks and three aces.
The Enquirer will no longer mail certificates to schools after getting feedback that families weren't receiving them. Alex Harrison will make digital copies of all certificates available to families by 8 a.m. the Monday after the Friday win. Families will access the PDFs through this public Dropbox link.
