England and India are set to lock horns in the second of their five-match T20I series at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday, July 4, after the opener in Chester-le-Street on Wednesday ended without a result due to persistent rain.
Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat. It was a decision that paid off as the skipper and Abhishek Sharma both brought up their respective half-centuries to set a solid platform.
Shivam Dube then came in and played a devastating cameo to push India to a challenging 189 for 7. England's Saqib Mahmood was outstanding with the ball, claiming three wickets to stand out as the pick of their attack.
The weather, however, had the final say, with rain arriving before England could step out to bat.
