Elliot Cadeau appears to have confirmed he will stay with Michigan basketball, for the third and presumably final time this offseason.

The Wolverines point guard took to his Instagram late Thursday, June 24, to post a picture of him celebrating during a win over Michigan State last season with a caption that reads, "I bleed blue #HAILTHEVICTORS", seemingly implying he will stay in Ann Arbor for the 2026-27 season.

As much was a formality just five days ago, but everything changed when former Michigan coach Dusty May agreed Monday to coach the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. The Wolverines promoted assistant coach Mike Boynton Jr. to interim coach the following day and since that time, U-M has been trying to keep its roster intact − the transfer portal is set to open on July 24 for Michigan since it went through a head coaching change.

Cadeau initially announced he was staying in Ann Arbor in April, agreeing to a new name, image and likeness deal for his senior season.

In May, he decided to enter the NBA combine to gather intel and feedback from the NBA.

He withdrew from the NBA Draft process and returned to Michigan, which would have been the end of it, had May not left. Still, barring a surprise turn, Cadeau – a 6-foot-1, 180-pound facilitator who averaged 10.5 points and 5.9 assists per game in his first season with U-M – will return for a second year.

It's a coup for Michigan as it appears to have locked in its starting backcourt. Earlier this week, Trey McKenney also indicated he was planning to stay in Ann Arbor when he posted "Victors always stay, #HA1L #GoBlue."

Boynton and his staff have work to do on the rest of Michigan's talented roster, but have received positive news from the two most critical players.
