Three-star defensive back MJ Burnett has committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, per an announcement on his Instagram. The defensive back was a top target for the Georgia Bulldogs prior to his commitment to the Yellow Jackets, and Burnett has ultimately decided that Georgia Tech is the better fit over Georgia.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Burnett is an athletic player that has put his talents on display at Walton High School in Georgia. Burnett chose the Yellow Jackets over Georgia, Miami and Ohio State, as the safety was a highly sought after recruit prior to his commitment. Burnett is the son of Georgia Tech Hall of Famer Morgan Burnett, who played in the NFL with the Green Bay Packer. The 3-star recruit will now be following in his father’s footsteps by planning to play for the Yellow Jackets in 2027. MJ Burnette is the son of former Green Bay Packers defensive back Morgan Burnette

Burnett is listed as the No. 38 cornerback and the No. 493 overall player from the class of 2027, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is considered as the No. 45 player in Georgia, and Burnett will be staying home for his freshman campaign in 2027 despite not landing in Athens. Burnett is a dynamic defensive back with excellent speed and athleticism considering his size.

Georgia has picked up some serious steam on their recruitment trail over the past few weeks. Four-star QB Colton Nussmeier recently committed to Georgia, while 2028 WR Seven Rashad has received an offer from the Dawgs.
