The Oklahoma Sooners will have to restart their 2028 recruiting class from scratch after four-star running back Micah Rhodes decommitted on Wednesday morning, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.
Rhodes is from Spring, Texas, and is arguably the top running back in the country. He committed to the Sooners on Jan. 29 over the Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Longhorns, and several other programs. His commitment status was quickly put into jeopardy, though, when Oklahoma running back coach DeMarco Murray left to become the running backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.
He returned to Norman for a visit on March 30, his first time since Murray left and was replaced by Deland McCullough. He also visited Texas recently, where his grandfather played during the 1980s. With him back on the market, programs across the country will likely circle back on him.
He is ranked as the No. 28 overall player and No. 1 running back in the country by 247Sports. They also rank him as the No. 2 player from Texas in the 2028 cycle.
Brent Venables and the Sooners are now without a commitment in the 2028 cycle after Rhodes' decommitment. They do have the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class and have plenty of time to build up their 2028 class.
