Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is dealing with a shocking family situation following the shooting of his wife, Mia, 57, at their Virginia home on Sunday evening.
Mia suffered multiple gunshot wounds and “serious injuries,” according to reports, and now a stunning twist has emerged. Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reveals Mia suffered arm and chest injuries.
The couple’s 27-year-old son, Elijah, has been arrested and charged with three felonies following the incident. Reports state Elijah is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Bieniemy was in Missouri with the Chiefs over the weekend when the incident occurred, as the team ramped up training camp for the 2026-27 NFL season at Missouri Western State.

“At approximately 7:32 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting,” the police report said. “Deputies located one adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.”
It later went into details about the arrest of the couple’s son, Elijah.
Elijah, 27, was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Discharge of a Firearm Inside of a Dwelling.
He is being held without bond.
“If convicted on all three charges as filed, Bieniemy faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 33 years in prison,” USA Today reporter Ayre Pulli reported on X. “He remains in custody, according to public court records, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 31.”
The Chiefs released a statement revealing they are “aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family.”
