The Locomotive officially welcomed Mike DiGiulio as the new president and general manager and Junior Gonzalez as the new head coach during an event at the WestStar Club.
DiGiulio takes over the role previously held by Andrew Forrest. He arrives in El Paso after spending the past five years as president of Monterey Bay FC, another club competing in the USL Championship.
Gonzalez brings 25 years of coaching experience, with stops across Major League Soccer, the USL Championship and MLS NEXT Pro. Most recently, he served as head coach of LAFC II.
Gonzalez becomes the fifth head coach in El Paso Locomotive FC history.
Both DiGiulio and Gonzalez expressed excitement about leading the next chapter of the club as the Locomotive continue building their roster ahead of the 2026 season.
“I’m extremely excited,” Gonzalez said. “I’ve been in quite a long journey, and I’ve been in many different environments for this opportunity, and I don’t take it lightly to be part of the community of El Paso. And our goal is to have success and win trophies, but also to develop young and veteran players to become a team and be good in the community.”
“I have a real love for the sport,” DiGiulio said. “I have a real love for the league. I think the USL is a tremendous opportunity in the future. I believe what we have coming in the next several years is going to be special. My goal and our goal is to be one of those clubs that are the elite thought of clubs in USL.”
El Paso will open the season on March 7, hosting Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Southwest University Park.
