Egypt entered its Round of 16 matchup with Argentina as a massive underdog. Because of course it did.

After all, any time you play a team with Lionel Messi, you're probably not going to be favored. But late in the second half, Mo Salah's team buried a goal to take a 2-0 lead that sure felt like a dagger in the hearts of the defending men's World Cup champions.

That is, until VAR wiped out the goal after a review for a silly, nitpicky foul that the on-field referee had decided not to call in real time. It could've been the kind of moment that sucked out all the momentum and energy from one of this World Cup tournament's biggest dark horses.

Many teams in similar circumstances would've certainly crumbled at the prospect of such a backbreaking replay decision.

Egypt did the opposite. It took only a few minutes for the Egyptians and Mostafa Ziko to score one of the best "ball don't lie" goals you'll ever see at a World Cup:

Take that, VAR! Egypt will just score another beautiful goal in a huge World Cup match instead. Sometimes you can, in fact, beat replay it turns out.
