Philadelphia Eagles star DeVonta Smith was ranked the 17th-best WR in the NFL by Bleacher Report's scouting department.
Smith is one spot ahead of Jameson Williams of the Detroit Lions and one spot behind Chris Olave of the New Orleans Saints.
Smith if the Eagles' new No. 1 WR after A.J. Brown was traded to the New England Patriots.
"Smith is a talented and smooth-moving wide receiver with great instincts and IQ," Bleacher Report wrote. "He changes directions as a route-runner quickly and suddenly. Smith's routes have little wasted movement at the top to snap off and create space between him and the defender. His IQ against zone coverages is great; he manipulates spot droppers with pacing to find open grass.
"Smith's slender frame creates issues against physical defenders early in reps. He can be re-routed or slowed down by press coverage. He enters 2026 without AJ Brown as the number one threat for opposing defenses to key in on. It will be interesting to see how Smith handles WR1 duties and defensive attention."
Smith had 77 receptions for 1,008 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns in 2025. The four TD receptions were a career low.
The Eagles selected Smith with the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The talented playmaker helped Philadelphia beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
Smith enters this season with 385 receptions, 5,019 receiving yards and 31 receiving touchdowns in the NFL. According to Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice, some members of the Eagles believe trading Brown could spark a Jaxon Smith-Njigba-style breakout for Smith. T
The Seattle Seahawks traded D.K. Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Smith-Njigba went off last season as the No. 1 option.
"I mean, I'm just going out there and do my job," Smith said, via NBC Sports Philadelphia. "Regardless, however you want to look at it, one, two, three, four. End of the day, we all have jobs, and I've got to go out there and do it. I'm going to do the same thing I've been doing."
Smith has a great relationship with Eagles star QB Jalen Hurts. Brown and Hurts are no longer close friends, which is why they weren't on the same page last season.
It will be fascinating to see how Smith and Hurts perform with Brown gone. The Eagles open the 2026 season at home against the Washington Commanders.
