The Philadelphia Eagles love to evaluate quarterbacks, and the factory is expected to continue in 2026 after the team parted ways with Kyle McCord. The Philadelphia native is now a free agent after his practice squad contract expired.

McCord found his way onto the practice squad after Philadelphia waived sixth-round pick and former Syracuse quarterback during training camp, choosing to roll with Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee, and Sam Howell, who was acquired via trade.

Last spring, the Eagles were looking to add depth to their quarterback room, selecting McCord with the 181st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

McCord, a Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, native and St. Joe's Prep star, led the FBS with an ACC-record 4,779 passing yards during his senior season at Syracuse after transferring from Ohio State. During training camp, McCord battled with Dorian-Thompson and may have won the third quarterback job until Tanner McKee suffered a fractured thumb, setting in motion the need to acquire Howell from the Vikings.
