The Eagles are the reigning Super Bowl champions, and as we approach the 2025 NFL draft, this roster will look dramatically different after suffering several free-agent losses. Philadelphia suffered massive losses as the first wave of free agency saw Josh Sweat (Cardinals), Milton Williams (Patriots), Kenneth Gainwell (Steelers), Mekhi Becton (Chargers), Isaiah Rodgers (Vikings), Fred Johnson (Jaguars), Parris Campbell (Cowboys), Darius Slay (CB) and Oren Burks (Bengals) all depart.
Still, they rebounded to make several key signings, including A.J. Dillon (RB), Joshua Uche (LB), Adoree' Jackson (CB), Charley Hughlett (LS), Patrick Johnson (LB), Avery Williams (KR/PR), Kylen Granson (TE), and Azeez Ojulari (OLB).
With the NFL draft fast approaching, we’re examining the tight end position that could see Dallas Goedert depart as we continue with the Eagles Wire off-season previews.
C.J. Uzomah is a free agent, while Philadelphia added veterans Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson in free agency. Philadelphia will enter off-season workouts with seven tight ends on the roster.
The NFL owners' meetings provide little clarity regarding Dallas Goedert's future with the club.
Earlier last week, head coach Nick Sirianni was noncommittal and obviously unsure when he responded, "He's on our team." ESPN's Tim McManus was even less optimistic, stating that "outside of him taking a pay cut, it's hard to envision Goedert returning to Philly in 2025."
Goedert is set to enter the final year of his deal and has no guaranteed money with his $11,810,583 salary cap hit for 2025. Last season, Goedert played in 10 games, logging 42 receptions for 496 yards, averaging 11.8 yards per catch, and two scores. He led the team in receptions (17) and receiving yards (215) during their Super Bowl run in the postseason.
Goedert is a warrior, and when he's healthy, the talented pass catcher is one of the top tight ends in the NFL. Goedert is 30 years old, and like Zach Ertz before him, the Eagles could be preparing for an exit strategy as they work to get younger at the position. Josina Anderson previously reported that Philadelphia is open to trading Goedert and would be willing to take a 2026 or 2027 fourth-round pick.
A player who could benefit the most from a Goedert departure, Calcaterra finished his third professional season with career highs in catches (24), yards (298), and touchdowns (one).
Muse did not see any game action with the Eagles after being signed to the practice squad on Jan. 22.
Latu (6-5, 244), 24, was selected by San Francisco with pick No. 101 in the 2023 draft out of Alabama. He has not played in a regular-season NFL game.
Latu joins running back Trey Sermon, running back Tyrion Davis-Price, and wide receiver Danny Gray as former 49ers draft picks who have joined the Eagles. At Alabama, Latu played 26 games and caught 56 passes for 787 yards and 12 touchdowns.
A wide receiver at Georgia Tech in 2022 who has converted to tight end as a pro, Jenkins was on the field for 25 plays at TE and on special teams in Sunday’s Super Bowl. The snap count was his highest in four playoff games this postseason and his fourth-highest of the season overall. After spending the 2023 season on the Eagles’, New York Jets’ and Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squads, Jenkins was promoted to Philadelphia’s active roster in 2024 and saw action in 12 games (eight in the regular season and four in the postseason). Playing primarily on special teams, he caught one pass on the season – a 7-yard touchdown versus the New York Giants on Jan. 5.
Granson caught one of four targets for seven yards in the Colts' 26-23 win over the Jaguars in the season finale.
The 26-year-old tight end finished the season with 14 catches on 31 targets for 182 yards and no touchdowns. Selected by the Colts with the 127th Pick In the 2021 NFL Draft, Granson has 86 career receptions on 136 targets for 958 yards and one touchdown.
Bryant finishes his 2024 campaign with nine receptions for 86 yards on 12 targets across 13 games with the Raiders, primarily providing depth at tight end behind All-Pro rookie Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer.
