Major, MAJOR college basketball news this Monday — Dusty May is heading to the NBA. The head coach of the reigning national champions will move to the professional level to coach Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks, according to multiple reports.

May went 64-13 during his short time at Michigan, quickly assembling the best roster in college basketball. The Wolverines dominated much of the regular season, hardly breaking a sweat on their breeze through the NCAA Tournament. May was at Florida Atlantic before Michigan, hitting everyone’s radar after leading the Owls to a shocking Final Four.

May now leaves Michigan with a projected top five roster for next season and the administration suddenly has a massive next move to make. Tennessee will play in the same tournament as Michigan during the early season, both set to appear in the Players Era Tournament in Las Vegas.

J.P. Estrella, a former center for the Volunteers, was one of May’s top pulls out of the transfer portal. Michigan dominated Tennessee in the Elite Eight in this year’s NCAA Tournament, ending the Volunteers’ season.

May went out on top, now looking ahead to his next challenge. Michigan’s next move will be fascinating here, just as the Wolverines were becoming a consistent force again in college basketball.
