Jeff Kent, among the newest members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, predicted his former San Francisco Giants manager, Dusty Baker, will join him in Cooperstown next year, according to a LA Times' Jose de Jesus Ortiz.
Baker had 509 of his 2,183 regular-season managerial wins with the Cincinnati Reds, his second-highest total with any team he managed.
On July 26, Kent became the first former player Baker managed to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Baker's Cooperstown visit for an induction weekend, this past weekend, was his first.
Baker is expected to be on the Hall of Fame's 16-member Era Committee ballot in December.
If Baker receives at least 12 votes from the committee, he'll become the first Black manager elected.
Baker announced his retirement after the Houston Astros lost to the Texas Rangers in the 2023 American League Championship Series.
No active manager has more regular-season wins than Baker's 2,183. The six former managers (all Hall of Famers) with more regular-season wins than Baker are Connie Mack, Tony La Russa, John McGraw, Bobby Cox, Joe Torre and Sparky Anderson.
Baker's regular-season record as the Reds' manager from 2008 to 2013 was 509-463, a .524 winning percentage.
Former Reds great Joey Votto, who played for Baker in Cincinnati, explained during his debut as NBC Sunday Night Baseball analyst why he hasn't yet visited Cooperstown.
