PEORIA — Dunlap saw its chance to win a Class 3A softball state championship end at the hands of Antioch 6-1 on Friday, June 5 at Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.
The fifth-ranked Eagles (30-9) will now play for the state third-place trophy at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, June 6.
No. 2 Antioch (33-3) scored four runs off three hits in the top of the first and never looked back. Sutton Centoni's RBI-groundout in the bottom of the frame accounted for the lone Dunlap run.
Centoni, who will play at Illinois next season, finished with 10 strikeouts, no walks and allowed seven hits. Six Dunlap hitters all had one hit.
