Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green knows all about being in the news for getting into fistfights with teammates.
A few years ago, he made headlines for slugging Jordan Poole during practice. So, naturally, Green chimed in on the recent altercation between ex-Miami Heat teammates Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
Adebayo reportedly punched Herro last week while both were in Las Vegas to watch the NBA Summer League. Green used the incident to call out Heat legend Udonis Haslem, who was critical of Green when he punched Poole.
"So when I first saw this, I was like 'damn," Green said on his podcast. "This is two guys Udonis Haslem raised. If you raised this young guy in the light of what you was saying about me, and now he punches this other young guy, that y’all kind of co-raised, are you going to have that same energy?"'
Green, a future Hall of Famer, also seemed to side with Adebayo. He appeared to say younger players need to be more respectful with teammates, especially toward veterans.
"Reality is I don’t want him [Haslem] to have that same energy because I love Bam," Green said. "That’s my brother, my dog … Tyler Herro, who’s from Milwaukee like Jordan Poole, has a lot of bravado as a young guy probably said some very disrespectful things like Jordan Poole.”
Regardless of what was said, the Herro-Adebayo comes as a complete surprise to most. While there was speculation of a feud between over Herro's social media comments, no one expected it to reach this level.
Herro declined comment when asked by reporters in Las Vegas while Adebayo has been silent on the matter. The Heat have yet to publicly comment, either. It will be interesting to see what happens when the teams meet during the regular season.
