Just found this forum it looks great.

I really believe this organization has taken a step back this offseason. We might be on target for the worst record in the league this fall. Our draft was less than stellar and I get the feeling we don't know what were doing.

If we turn our calendars to late December I have a feeling that Dave McGinnis will be fired as will his entire staff. Struggling with any since of direction the Cardinals will be put under the microscope to set the ship right with a new stadium in the future and a leader to bring in some veterans that will sign, the ability to retain our core players, and someone to assist Graves with the draft. I wouldn't be suprised if Denny Green is running the draft and show in January 2004.

I've been a Cardinal follower since 1986 and want to root for another team but I'm like that verse in the Bible "I'm a dog that returns to it's vomit!"

Hey, are you trying to piss on the parade? It's been nothing but sunshine and flowers here after we made that trade. ;)

Seriously, welcome.

Anybody else think it is a shame if McGinnis is fired after Graves' draft? Guy hasn't blown me away as a coach, but I think he's good and it would be a shame to see him go.

Welcome SMAC. You stole one of the points in the article I'm writing.

Frankly, it all depends on last year's draft class. If Wendell Bryant and Fisher improve as most second year players do, and if either Dennis Johnson or Calvin Pace can contribute occasional pressure on the passer, the Cards won't be as bad as you think.

skorp: very valid statement...johnson bryant and fisher will play decent size roles in determining if our defense is any good next year. I wish we had an up and coming cornerback...not as worried about safety..I am ok with barrett and starks starting - but if one of them gets injured (when was the last time we had 2 healthy starting corners for a full season - never that I can remember) - we drop off alot.. Secondarily, Bell could be added to above list also..

Offense is very hard to call - we have pretty much the same line and tight ends..but everything else is much different so it it very hard to predict..

I am assuming we will sign a veteran dback and do everything in our power (ie. overpay) to get one after june 1st.. stone, hill and rhinehart do not impress me..we are stocked in linebacker in my opinon..if we stick with the 4-3 (assume we will) we will get another veteran tackle...

Again, McGinnis probably had as much say as Graves in this draft. His hands are certainly not clean of this mess. In fact I'll bet he has had more influence than anyone over the last several Cardinals' drafts. As far as I'm concerned if Dave McGinnis is fired he probably deserves it.

Hell, we should've just skipped this year's draft altogether then. Nothing personal pinnacle, I'm just still very disappointed in this year's draft. Tomorrow morning I'll start with the new attidtude.

red desert: I have like the past few years drafts quite a bit (not this year)...we usually got an a or b from the pundits....but over the long run things have not worked out...Personally - I would have signed marcus robinson and went with our young receivers and drafted the best available d tackle, d end and cornerback over and over again...Hopefully I will be wrong and this turns into a great draft class..

You may be right, Skkorp but the talking, explaining and prognosticating is beginning to get a bit stale.

I watched Mac and Graves at the podium - What they were saying and what had been happening bore no resemblance to each other. After a while I couldn't hear the words anymore - just watched their mouths moving.

It's becoming too frustrating to hope anymore. Far better to let things happen and "play it as it lays." If and when the Cardinals get their act together, I'll be first in line to cheer. But I ain't expecting nuthin'.

It's not fair to bash the picks for lack of talent (it's too early - (some of the picks were decent. Let's see what they've got). But it is fair to bash management for missed opportunities (Suggs) and giving away the store (i.e. swapping #2's & giving away a 4th for the "privilege" of trading out of the blue-chip area of the draft?)
