Donovan McNabb Jr. is headed to UNLV, giving Dan Mullen and the Rebels another notable addition to one of the top Group of Six recruiting classes in the 2027 cycle. McNabb, a three-star wide receiver out of Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, announced his commitment to UNLV on Friday night. The son of former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb chose the Rebels over several Power Five offers, including Arizona, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Maryland, Minnesota, Syracuse, and Washington. The Syracuse offer carried obvious family significance after McNabb Sr. starred for the Orange before becoming the No. 2 pick in the 1999 NFL draft.
The younger McNabb is rated as the No. 107 wide receiver nationally and the No. 18 overall prospect in Arizona by 247Sports. The 5-foot-11 receiver had 23 catches for 280 yards and five touchdowns last season while playing against strong Arizona competition on a talented Brophy roster that also included Devin Fitzgerald, the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and Stanford-bound defensive back Daylen Sharper, the son of former NFL safety Darren Sharper.
McNabb’s commitment continues UNLV's recruiting momentum under Mullen. The Rebels currently hold the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class in the Mountain West and the third-best class among non-Power Four programs, according to 247Sports. Mullen also has a connection to the McNabb family, having worked as a graduate assistant at Syracuse in 1998, McNabb Sr.’s final college season.
For Eagles fans, the commitment is another reminder of how much time has passed since McNabb became the face of football in Philadelphia. He made six Pro Bowls, led the Eagles to four straight NFC championship games, and helped guide the franchise to Super Bowl XXXIX.
Now his son will try to build his own college career in Las Vegas, joining a UNLV program that has become one of the more interesting recruiting stories outside the Power Four.
