You know who has done a really good job this year? No, not me <hold the applause>. No, it’s been Don Mattingly!

Weirdly enough, when the team fired Rob Thomson, everyone knew that it wasn’t truly his fault that the team was struggling at the time. They weren’t playing well, the issues ultimately lying with them that they were struggling, and it’s not as though Thomson was free of blame, but to truly call him the issue behind the struggles was not 100% correct.

Yet something has changed with Mattingly. The team looks better on the field, playing with a tinge more urgency that at the beginning of the year, getting into better matchups than they were. Is that totally on Mattingly, or are we giving all that credit to the players?

How do you think Mattingly has done with this group since he has taken over as the manager? He has shown a few apparent differences in what managing this team would look like compared to what Thomson did, but he has also kept a lot of the things the same. Maybe that’s part of the job? Let us know your vote and we’ll share results later this week.
