Dolphins request to interview Rams' Chris Shula for head coaching job

The Miami Dolphins might be hoping there’s success in a name. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Dolphins have requested to interview Chris Shula, the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator.

Shula is the grandson of legendary Dolphins coach Don Shula, the all-time leader in NFL history for wins among coaches, winning 328 career games during his 33 years as a head coach – 26 of which were with the Dolphins.

Shula won two Super Bowls with the Dolphins and was named Coach of the Year 4 times in his career.

Chris Shula has been the Rams’ defensive coordinator for the last two seasons, rising the ranks after joining Sean McVay’s staff in 2017. He’s coached all three levels of the defense in his career and is expected to be one of the top head coaching candidates in the NFL this hiring cycle.

Shula has also been requested for an interview by the Tennessee Titans. He can begin virtual interviews next week, even if the Rams advance to the next round.
