So far this offseason, the Miami Dolphins have only made two moves at tight end, signing Ben Sims and re-signing Greg Dulcich, while they've let Julian Hill leave in free agency and have left Darren Waller unsigned.
With that, Miami shouldn't expect to go into the season with just Dulcich, Sims, Jalin Conyers, Cole Turner and Zack Kuntz in the tight end room. They need more help at the position for Malik Willis.
That's why FOX Sports' Ralph Vacchiano proposed that the Dolphins make a deal with the Green Bay Packers during the 2026 NFL draft to acquire tight end Luke Musgrave. Vacchiano believes that Miami could complete the deal for just a fifth-round pick (No. 151 overall).
"First, the Dolphins should be in fire sale mode, getting rid of every valuable asset they have for draft picks," Vacchiano wrote. "But while they’re doing that, they can’t leave new QB Malik Willis without help on offense, especially if they’re trying to see if he can be their quarterback of the future. So, it makes sense to bring at least one familiar weapon from Green Bay with him."
Musgrave, 25, played collegiately at Oregon State from 2019-22 before the Packers took him in the second round (No. 42 overall) of the 2023 NFL draft. In three years with Green Bay, he's appeared in 35 games and has caught 65 passes for 649 yards and a touchdown.
The addition of Musgrave wouldn't make Miami's offense much better than they are now, but maybe a change of scenery could help the tight end reach the heights that the Packers thought he could reach.
