The Miami Dolphins selected Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers with the 231st pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. His selection in the seventh round was a surprise, as he and many others believed he could've gone earlier in the draft.

In an article from Todd Archer of ESPN, the details surrounding Ewers' draft fall were delved into. Ewers hadn't been a first-rounder or second-rounder in most NFL circles, but his fall into the seventh was a surprise.

Leading up to the draft, Ewers was confident in his ability and strongly believed he was ready for the NFL.

"I wanted to continue on my career path, and I know I'm ready for the NFL," Ewers said. "I think my game fits the NFL better than it does in college, honestly, I'm ready for the next step."

Ewers will be the Dolphins' backup quarterback, sitting behind Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson. He'll likely get a chance to compete for the second-string quarterback spot during the preseason.

His fit in the Mike McDaniel offense is great, and of all the places he could've gone, Miami is at the top of the list for schematic fits.

Ewers also acknowledged how great a fit Miami is for him.

"But I'm glad that I ended up where I ended up," Ewers added. "To go as late as I did, I'm glad it's a good spot."

Being drafted was bittersweet for Ewers. He expected to get picked much earlier in the draft, and the fall stung. However, Ewers enters the NFL with a positive outlook on his situation.

"Maybe not as excited, but it's the same opportunity that every guy that was drafted in front of me is getting."

Ewers is putting the draft behind him. He believes the Dolphins are a great fit for him and is confident in his NFL readiness.

The Dolphins will get their first look at Ewers in a Dolphins uniform during rookie minicamp, which starts on May 9th and runs to May 11th.
