Does anyone else see the 3-4 look of the draft?

The wrong end of a Tequila bottle.
Pace looks like a 3-4 backer. Hardy looks like an inside backer in a 3-4. Not addressing the tackle position. King being a tweener could play in a 3-4. I don't know....just looking at the logic.

Not with Mac around. He is not a 3-4 coach. he has ALWAYS been a 4-3 guy and I cannot see him suddnely changing his entire philosophy (although I think you need to be flexible enough to properly use the players at your disposal).

I can't see Suggs dropping into coverage. OLB need to be able to on occasion and he didn't get raves over his ability to do that. That's one of the things that surprised me about the Ravens taking him.

More proof of a 3-4 defense? With second 6th rounder another MIddle linebacker "Tony Gilber" THis from Pro Football Weekly:

Summary: Can make it as a two-down run-down type of linebacker if he can do well on special teams. Best-suited to play inside in a 3-4 defense

More fuel for the fire...

Won't he play DE in place of McCrary?

Simply fail to understand how Mac (and Marmie?) would switch so radically from their defensive philosophy. Mac wasn;t making the final draft calls so maybe Graves has his eyes on a guy for next year to coach this team into a 3-4. Still though this draft perplexes me. The end product is very unclear and that is scary. Most other teams, I believe, have a much clearer end product right now than the Cards.

A team needs a NT for the 3-4. Can't tell me that is Tanner. June 1st cuts? I do see where this thought came from since Bryant, King, R. Davis, Pace, Gilbert, Hayes, McKinnon, all fit in the 3-4 but,

what about:

Bell
Fisher
Thompson
KVB
Wakefield
D. Johnson

and the fact we don't have a NT.

I think Traylor will be cut by the Bears (although I thought the Bears would draft a DT kind of facilitating the cut) and I wonder how he would work at NT...although I think the only way Mac moves to a 3-4 is with a gun pointed at his head.

I have no porblem going to a 3-4 but if they are, they need a DC who specializes in coaching and scheming the 3-4 ala LeBeau, Phillips type coaches
