On Saturday evening, the rich got richer when the Los Angeles Dodgers went out and pried Tarik Skubal away from the Detroit Tigers in a blockbuster trade. The move gives Los Angeles arguably the best pitcher in the game today, as well as one of the most lethal pitching rotations in MLB history.

Now, more information has come to light on the rest of Los Angeles’ plans, or lack thereof, ahead of the upcoming MLB trade deadline on Monday evening.

“Andrew Friedman said the Dodgers are continuing to have trade conversations, but described any more moves that add to the big-league roster as ‘less likely.’ Obviously, they have some pieces they can sell, and some prospect swaps that could balance out their farm system depth,” reported Jack Harris of the California Post on X, formerly Twitter.

It’s hard to imagine what other areas of need the Dodgers could possibly have on their roster after already having immense depth at every position on the field. Los Angeles currently has the best record in baseball, and Skubal erases any concerns about pitching depth amid the team’s onslaught of injuries in that department this season.

Meanwhile, the blockbuster deal drew an outcry from MLB fans who are sick of seeing the Dodgers acquire seemingly every star player available over the last few years, although this time, opposing teams who didn’t make bigger offers than Los Angeles have no one but themselves to blame.

The Dodgers are looking to add a third straight trophy to their collection this fall after winning the last two World Series, and having the reigning two-time Cy Young winner on their pitching staff will certainly help out in that quest.
