Dodgers trade proposal has them winning another World Series move by grabbing ex-Cy Young winner originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will do everything in their power to ensure they have a chance to win another World Series, and as a result, it's almost scary to think about what could happen at the trade deadline. If the Dodgers want to go out and find a player who can help this team win another World Series, Andrew Friedman will go down every path to ensure that he puts his team in the best possible position.
In a recent trade proposal from Sports Illustrated's Patrick McAvoy, the Dodgers would do that by trading for one of the best starters in Major League Baseball in the form of Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins.
"Dodgers Receive: Sandy Alcántara. Marlins Receive: Outfielder Josue De Paula (Dodgers No. 1 prospect), Outfielder Mike Sirota (Dodgers No. 4 prospect) and Infielder Alex Freeland (Dodgers No. 8 prospect)
“The Dodgers are the two-time reigning World Series champions and have a chance to make history by winning a third in a row. The Dodgers' rotation is pretty sweet on paper right now. When everyone is healthy, the Dodgers will have Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow and Emmet Sheehan.”
This is an absolutely massive haul for the Dodgers to move on from, but as Friedman has shown in the past, he's not necessarily worried about moving on from prospects if he believes his team has a chance to win it all by making that move.
The Dodgers have always done a good job of making the right trades, so if this were to eventually happen and that type of deal came up, we have to trust Friedman that he made the right decision. Alcantara will likely be the best starter traded at the deadline if the Miami Marlins finally decide to move on from him.
