The Los Angeles Dodgers made some changes behind the plate after trading for catchers Ben Rortvedt and Hunter Feduccia at the deadline.
Both Rortvedt and Feduccia have experience in the Dodgers’ organization, having played within their ranks as recently as last season, and will provide a huge boost to the team amid Dalton Rushing and Will Smith’s stints on the injured list.
The Dodgers added Feduccia to their roster, and selected Rortevdt’s contract from Triple-A. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers designated Chuckie Robinson for assignment and optioned Eliezer Alfonzo.
Rortvedt spent the final month of last season in MLB with the Dodgers following injuries to both Smith and Rushing, and played a solid role throughout Sept. 2025. He had a .636 OPS through 18 games, hitting one home run and driving in four runs.
He also featured four times in the postseason, posting a 1.071 OPS in 10 plate appearances.
Feduccia went to the Tampa Bay Rays in the deal which sent Rortvedt to the Dodgers. He has been in MLB for the entire season so far, playing 60 games with the Rays before they acquired Liam Hicks from the Miami Marlins. He had a .646 OPS, hitting two homers and driving in 14 runs this year.
The 29-year-old played two games with the Dodgers last year, going hitless in two at-bats.

While Robinson and Alfonzo both spent some time as the Dodgers’ catcher this season, neither player performed particularly well during their brief MLB stints.
Robinson came up to the majors in June, and featured in eight games for LA. He recorded just two hits in 23 at-bats, posting a .174 OPS before being sent back down to Triple-A after clearing waivers. He briefly came back onto the 40-man roster Monday, but didn’t play and is now back on waivers.
Alfonzo has been with the Dodgers since the beginning of July, and has played 12 games in a Dodger uniform. The 26-year-old made his MLB debut on July 5, and has five hits on the year. He recorded four RBIs and scored three runs with a .444 OPS before the Dodgers optioned him.
The Dodgers replenished their MLB roster with two catchers who are familiar with the organization and have proper experience playing in MLB.
