The Los Angeles Dodgers held on to beat the Kansas City Royals 6-5 in a back-and-forth battle in Tarik Skubal’s home debut for the team.
Skubal didn’t have his best night, but the Dodgers had offensive rally in the sixth inning, allowed a tie and then scored another run in the seventh to grab the lead.
The win might finally signal the end of the Dodgers’ recent slide, as they’d lost eight of their past nine before Monday’s game.
How did Tarik Skubal do in his first home game for the Dodgers?
Skubal pitched five innings, giving up three runs, all earned.
He had six strikeouts against four hits allowed and two walks.

Jack Dreyer picked up the win on the mound even though he gave up a two-run home run that tied the game just moments after the Dodgers had come from behind to take the lead.
Closer Edwin Diaz, though, had a strong ninth inning to get the save, recording a strikeout in the process.
How did the Dodgers score?
After Skubal’s five innings, the Dodgers remained down 3-2, though veterans soon stepped up.
The Dodgers took a 5-3 lead with Max Muncy’s three-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Dreyer, though, promptly gave up a two-run homer to tie the game in the top of the seventh.
Fortunately for the Dodgers, Freddie Freeman knocked in Shohei Ohtani in the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead.
What’s up next for the Dodgers?
The Dodgers (71-48) and Royals (49-71) will play again Tuesday at Dodger Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. PT.
Blake Snell is set to make his long-awaited return from elbow surgery. The Royals are starting Michael Wacha (5-8, 3.44 ERA).
