The Los Angeles Dodgers played a great game on Thursday, July 2, against the San Diego Padres, overcoming a rough outing from Roki Sasaki.

The Dodgers were down 6-0 after the top of the second inning, with Sasaki totally spiraling on the mound and making multiple pitches that were not executed well.

Sasaki gave up seven hits, six runs, and two walks over three innings, with his only clean inning being the third inning.

All of the hits that Sasaki allowed were doubles or more, and it looked like One Piece Night was going to be ruined by a terrible outing from the Japanese pitcher.

However, the bullpen ended up picking up Sasaki, just allowing one run in the next six innings.

Will Klein, Brock Stewart, Alex Vesia, Edgardo Henriquez, and Tanner Scott were all stellar, with Paul Gervase being the only pitcher who struggled a bit.

The Dodgers’ decision to punt on Wednesday’s game looked all the more justified as LA had the ability to deploy pitchers at will.

Who impressed for the Dodgers on offense?

What made Thursday’s game so amazing was that players who had a rough start to the season began to produce.

Mookie Betts went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Kyle Tucker added another four hits and an RBI plus a walk, going four-for-four on the night.

Additionally, Tommy Edman produced for the bottom of the order, and Dalton Rushing was amazing, going 4-for-4 with a home run and four runs batted in.

The swing pieces for the Dodgers are the bottom of the order and players like Tucker and Betts. If those are firing, it is pretty much impossible to beat this team.

With Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker finding their groove, the Dodgers look unstoppable.

Ohtani, Freeman, Pages, Muncy, and Teo have been delivering for most of the season.

Add on dominant relief pitching and a rotation that, when healthy and clicking, is at the top of baseball, the Dodgers really showed why they are the cream of the crop in baseball.
